Why PP is Sustainable ?
Polypropylene (PP) is more sustainable than most other food-packaging materials such as bagasse, paper, PLA-bioplastics, or aluminium because it is lightweight, reusable, recyclable, and requires far less water and energy during production. In the Indian food ecosystem, most dishes are gravy-based, oily, or liquid in nature, and only PP containers can reliably hold hot curries and gravies without leaking, softening, or breaking down — which is a major drawback for bagasse, paper and PLA. Since PP can be reused multiple times while maintaining hygiene and strength, its carbon footprint per use becomes much lower than single-use “eco” alternatives, and it also fits well into India’s existing recycling network. This makes PP one of the most practical and truly sustainable options for real-world Indian food packaging.

It’s a no-brainer that the container made
for storing food must be safe. If you’re not sure and would
like to check on your containers, do look out for the fork
and the fancy wine cup symbol. That will be your
assurance. Sometimes, the symbol is also replaced with
the words ‘Food Safe’ instead.

Polypropylene is the most durable and
versatile plastic of all. It is commonly chosen as the plastic to produce
reusable containers due to its ability to take on a higher temperature, is
lightweight and tough. PP is also reusable, and multiple pieces of
research have proven that PP does not leach harmful chemicals at all.

For meal-prep buffs, this should be the
symbol to look out for! Often represented in squiggly lines
(perhaps for the actual heat waves), this means that the container
is microwavable. It can take a few different forms but it is
generally understood that squiggly lines mean it can be used in
microwaves.(re heat purpose only)

Snowflake-looking symbol?
That’ll mean that the container is freezer safe. Look for this
symbol when you’re thinking of storing some delicious
leftovers in the freezer (18~c)
